Hippo Sub-group Objectives

1. Develop processes to identify, promote, and fund in situ and ex situ conservation efforts. 

2. Develop husbandry manuals / standardized guidelines for each species. 

3. Increase institutional awareness / interest in an effort to increase NA holdings.

4. Assist with the development of education programs.

5. Champion research and become the definitive source for those people / institutions that want to contribute to ongoing projects.

6. Share best practices.
